It is mandate that travellers take travel insurance before applying for a Vietnam Visa. Vietnam allows visitors from the following countries to enter Visa free and stay as indicated. Unemployment rate 

The first quarter of the year 2022 experienced a decrease of 2.46% from 3.56% in the 4th quarter of the year 2021. The Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expects it to be 3.10% by the end of the second quarter of 2022. There was a slightly decline in employment in 2020 due to impact of Covid-19, however it has increased now due to the economic growth and availability of jobs.

Economy of Vietnam  

In the year 2020 the GDP in Vietnam was worth 271.16 billion us dollars as per World Bank official data. This value represents 0.24% on the world’s economy.  Vietnam’s economy has withstood many crises, covid-19 being the latest, however it was one of only a few countries to post their GDP growth in 2020. The growth declined to 2.58% in 2021 because of Delta variant but is expected to rise to 5.5% in 2022.

Renting and buying of real estates for foreigners

All land in Vietnam is governed by the state as the land is a collective property of all Vietnamese people. Under the state law a foreign companies and individual people can lease out land for up to 80 years. To rent a house in Vietnam you need minimum 3-month tourist visa. A two or three-bedroom rental apartment will cost approx. 300 to 900 US$. People prefer to rent a house in places like Hoi-An, where there is not much traffic, atmosphere is pleasant and a beautiful beach just a few Km away. Vietnam experiences tropical climate with high humidity but it varies in different regions due to its varied terrain. The Monsoon or the rainy season dominates the climate from May to October. Rest of the year its dry season. In all seasons all the regions get their fair share of sun and rain. Throughout the year the temperature ranges from 70 deg. F and 95 deg. The people of Vietnam speak Vietnamese Language. More than 85% of the people here are ethnically Vietnamese. Rest of the residents are from a varies ethnic background which include Chinese, Thai, Cham, Hmong to name a few and many other different highlander (Montagnard) groups.

Traffic in Vietnam is very heavy, especially in Ho Chi Minh City. It has experienced Traffic Jams with sometimes hundreds and thousands of vehicles trapped sometimes for long hours. This has been one of the problems which pose a challenge to the government. The cause of this problems is the number of vehicles especially the motorbikes which are the largest in Vietnam. The Vietnam Dong (VND) is the official currency in Vietnam. They are of two types: paper and plastic polymer. The polymer banknotes have a higher value than paper dong. Coin Currencies are not in use in Vietnam anymore.

The Paper Dongs are available in VND 500, VND 1,000, VND 2,000 and VND 5,000. The Polymer Dongs are available in VND 10,000, VND 20,000, VND 50,000, VND 100,000, VND 200,000 AND VND 500,000.

Payment Transaction 

Throughout Vietnam ATM machines are available, and most ATMs will accept foreign cards. The maximum withdrawal is VND2,000,000 an VND 4,000,000 per transaction depending on the bank. Most ATMs charge and have a low withdrawal limit.  The MB Bank ATM on “Hai Ba Trang” (Near the junction with Ba Trieu) does not charge for withdrawal and has more withdrawal limit.

Cost of living in Vietnam

Vietnam is not an expensive city to live in. As compared to the west it would be anywhere from 55 to 25% less than what it would have cost you in other Asian countries.

Health Insurance  

Medical services are paid in Vietnam by the locals and by the expats. On an average the health insurance in Vietnam will cost $7775 and for a family it can cost you around $11512. Private hospitals are more convenient and adequately equipped. For a person coming from Western countries the public hospitals would not be desirable.
